Unrelated to pro sports but i have a question. The peewee team i coach has their first play-off game coming up. I have a dilemma , im deciding between putting a decent pitcher in to pitch the 1st inning then putting our ace in for the 2,3,4 innings . At this age they can only pitch 9 outs and every kid must sit before someone sits twice. Now the reason for my thinking is the top of the lineup will face one of my other pitchers and possibly give up runs ( max 5 in an inning ) and my ace will breeze through the other part of the order. I dont want my team down early but i also would rather have my ace pitch the 2,3,4 innings ( hour 45 time limit so basically the bulk of the game ) do i risk it and put my 2 guy out there for an inning and see what happens or do i let my ace start against their top of the order ? This is my 9th year in coaching but i really havent faced a situation like this before. Comments are most welcome . - Chris
