Until Bryn, my favourite Wotan - Norman Bailey. He used to sing with the ENO and sand in the Ring Cycle there under the inspired baton of Reginald Goodall. Slow tempi I agree but I love it taken this way. I was lucky enough to meet Bryn and told him that if it was not too presumptuous to say, that I thought his Wotan was the best I had heard since Norman Bailey. He took my hand and said that is a great compliment - thank you. Sound on this is pretty poor but I heard Norman B sing Wotan about fifteen times as well as Hans Sachs and he was wonderful youtube/watch?v=_fjjh12QgOI
