Until now, the Assad regime had managed to preserve the quiet in their stronghold, but now it appears that the fighting inside Latakia turned quickly into another fighting front. The fighting in this area endangers the Syrian government generally and the government supporting members of the Alawite community in particular. Those with close ties to the Syrian government, who were until now detached from the threatening fighting atmosphere, started to feel the flames spreading in their direction. In the southern part of the country, in the area of Damascus, one can examine a cloud of smoke towering above the homes. This is the result of the indiscriminate bombing of the Syrian Air Force that throws explosive barrels upon innocent Syrian civilians. Pictures of children that pay the price of these bombings with their bodies are horrifying.
