Until today, we’re still singing praises to God for the motorable roads constructed from Abakaliki, the state capital to our community. Initially, there was no hope for access road to the community owing to mal-representation of our people both in state and federal level. Going from the community to Abakaliki and vice versa takes like 2 to 3 hours due to bad road. It was so bad that atimes we prefer to go through Afikpo as there was a little improved road from Afikpo to Abakliki making the arrival time to the state capital much longer. Gracefully, we hissed a sigh of relief immediately one of our own, Prof Chigozie Ogbu, the same person who thought it necessary to improve the healthcare delivery in the community, the one who brokered peace during youth unrest was made the second citizen of the state. In his usual manner, and also being member of the state executive council, he ensured that special attention was given to the road to our community and local govt at large. The first road constructed was from Abakaliki to Isu, our local govt headquarter. Other road projects within the community followed and were completed before he left office in 2011. I therefore maintain that anyone that faults Prof Ogbu’s achievement to the community is not being fair in electing credible candidate come 2015 guber election. His doggedness in ensuring that we have fair share in the infrastructural development in the state has earned him the mandate of our people.
