Unusual geological event in Japan on Saturday, 25 October, 2014 at 15:06 (03:06 PM) UTC. *Japans Meteorological Agency is warning that a volcano may erupt in the Kirishima mountain range in Kyushu. Mount Ioyama straddles the southwestern prefectures of Kagoshima and Miyazaki. The agency issued the warning of a minor eruption at 10 AM on Friday. Ioyama is 1,310 meters above sea level. The Kirishima mountain range is a popular destination for hikers. Agency officials are warning climbers to be on the alert for ash deposits within a one-kilometer radius of the crater. They say quakes that cannot be felt by humans have been occurring around volcanoes neighboring Mount Ioyama. The officials say volcanic tremors at Mount Ioyama continued for seven minutes in August, distorting its northwestern side. The Coordinating Committee for the Prediction of Volcanic Eruptions pointed out on Thursday that a sudden burst of vapor and volcanic gases may occur. The expert panel also said that an eruption is possible. RSOE hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/index.php?pageid=event_map&edis_id=UGE-20141025-45766-JPN
