Unveiled… If you research the origin of veils - bridal veils in particular - so many different interpretations come into play depending on the epoch, the religious denomination, the country, the family… It seems theres not one definitive explanation of why we veil but rather, a plethora of perspective. I like to think of the wedding veil as being more a symbol of unveiling than veiling. When one chooses to commit to another person through a relationship, it is an opportunity to open up and explore the concept and the emotion around truth. To allow another person into the deepest, most secret parts of ourselves. It is the chance to share experience, to share emotion, to share time, body and soul - for better or for worse. With this, the veil signifies a willingness to step onto a journey of exploration of someone other than yourself. Our relationships offer us the opportunity to learn and grow through each other.
