Hosted by the St. Just Mines Research Group the exhibition runs from the 1st of June till the 26th of September 2014. Levant Mine: From Mineral to Metal. Discover the age-old secret of turning rock into bright, shiny metal and then into fabulous jewellery. 24th of August 2014 Create some wild art. Let your imagination go wild in the country as you create landscape art amid the stark mining ruins at the edge of the world. 4 dates between 30 July 2014 and 20 August 2014. Close to the edge – an adventurers story. Stunning scenery, tall tales, and an engine steaming by candle-light. Follow in the footsteps of generations of mining men and discover the secrets of Cornwalls wild mining coast and two of its. 13 August 2014 6:30pm. Royal Cornwall Museum: Amongst Heroes: the artist in working Cornwall. This exhibition explores representations of working people, the people who manually shaped Cornwall into the place it is today. Miners, fishermen, jowsters, quarry workers, knitters, blacksmiths and farmers, Cornwall’s life blood, represented by some of the most influential artists working in Cornwall during the 19th and 20th centuries. Including works by Stanhope Forbes, Harold Harvey, Lucy Kemp-Welch and Henry Scott Tuke this exhibition will give a sense of what working life might have been like for the people depicted. Previously exhibited with excellent reviews at Two Temple Place in London the exhibition highlights the important role of Cornwall as a centre for the production of a particular kind of realistic, rural art at the end of the 19th century.
