I can have a light breakfast at six a.m., they said, and then nothing but water until ten a.m. Im due at the Whittington Hospital at eleven a.m., with surgery at whenever. Actually, I imagine it will go quickly after that. It usually does. No big deal; Im seldom hungry during the day anyway. I slept pretty well last night, with the usual long, complex dreams that indicate all is well with my brain biochemistry. Thanks to my friends who called (you know who you are) and thanks to my friends who have been so supportive here on Facebook and elsewhere. Thank goodness for the iPad, which will allow me to bring several hundred books to the hospita, along with everything Im working onl so I can try to keep myself distracted afterwards. Because this one is gonna hurt––no keyhole surgery this time. I dont mind that so much as the fact that due to the location, it will also hurt when I laugh so Ill have to avoid LolCats, The Oatmeal, xkcd, and David Camerons claims that he is only trying to protect the NHS.
