Up to half of all the water on Earth may be older than the solar system itself, suggests a new study. The research, reported in the journal Science, may help settle a debate about when and how our water formed, and offers hope of finding water in other solar systems. One theory is that water formed from ice that condensed out as planets formed in the protoplanetary disk around the Sun 4.6 billion years ago. ABC Science | ab.co/1roEtjh
