Up to my old tricks. ... . Advice from the Salaf (pious predecessors) for the one who finds little blessing in his time:One of the Salaf once said,“Everytime I increased upon my (daily) portion of Qur’aan, my time would increase in barakah (blessings). I kept on increasing up until my daily portion reached ten Juz’ (a third of the Qur’aan)!”Ibraaheem bin ‘Abdil-Waahid al-Maqdisee said, whilst advising ad-Diyaa’ al-Maqdisee who intended to go out on a journey to seek knowledge,“Recite much Qur’aan and don’t abandon it, for verily that which you want to learn will become easier in accordance with how much you recite.”ad-Diyaa’ said,“So I noticed this and experienced it much. If I recited a lot of Qur’aan then listening to many Hadeeth and writing all of them down would be easy for me, and if I didn’t recite then it would become difficult.”Source: Dheelu Tabaqaatil-Hanaabilah of Ibn Rajab (3/205)The Prophet peace be upon him said:There is no-one who is afflicted by distress and grief, and says: (O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your maidservant; my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen with You, that You make the Quran the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety),’ but Allah will take away his distress and grief, and replace it with joy.He was asked: “O Messenger of Allah, should we learn this?” He said: “Of course; everyone who hears it should learn it.Narrated by Imaam Ahmad, Sahih Al-AlbaaniMay Allah make the Quraan the joy and life of our hearts!! A reminder to ourselves when we say I do not have time to learn the Quraan:We must remember that learning the Quran and teaching it is a form worship and since ones intention for learning the non-created words of Allah is to worship Him Alone and to be reminded of the hereafter and get closer to Allah, then Allah will bless your time and grant you strength and firmness. Worshiping only increases blessing in ones time.Hence the Quran will only increase blessing in your time. Why is it when welearn wordily knowledge that we are not as worried about our time or vigilant aswe are when we decide to learn the Quran which is our salvation and guidancein this life (or any field of Islamic Knowledge.) This indeed trick from the Shaytaan and his whispers to deter us from the Quran. If you have the desire to learn the book of Allah, then put your trust in Allahand hope in His aid and for Him to give you Strength to be able to manage between learning the Quran and your wordily affairs. As Muslims we should take advantage of the time we have todaybefore tomorrow what guarantees any of us will see the sunrise tomorrow or live to next year? Death can approach at any time or I will not be sick tomorrow?. Hence should take the opportunity I have now.The Muslim hastes to fill the time he has now to prepare for the hereafter and does not wait until tomorrow. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:“Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth, before you become old; your health, before you fall sick; your wealth, before you become poor; your free time before you become busy; and your life, before your death.”Authentic by Al-Baani (Targeeb wa Tarheeb / Sahih Al-Jaami)
