Upcoming Conference: ˝Social˝ Profiles and ˝Social˝ Groups: Perceptions of Social Position in Byzantium (Athens, December 19th) Our dear colleague Efi Ragia organises this most interesting event at the National Hellenic Research Foundation as part of her ongoing project on Social Identities and terminology in Byzantium (see also eie.gr/nhrf/institutes/ibr/cvs/cv-ragia-en.pdf and eie.academia.edu/EfiRagia). In October-November 2014, she was also guest at our Abteilung für Byzanzforschung/Division of Byzantine Research. From Vienna, our colleagues Jannis Stouraitis (Who is Subaltern? Some Reflections on Powerless Status in Byzantium) and Johannes Preiser-Kapeller (Networking Identities: a Relational Approach towards Social Profiles in Byzantine Society) will take part.
