Upcoming Saturday Morning Intermediate Century Ride Saturday March - TopicsExpress

Upcoming Saturday Morning Intermediate Century Ride Saturday March 8. 8 AM start from City Park Im looking forward to this ride. The weather has decided to cooperate this time, with temperatures approaching 70 degrees during the ride, so we can get an early start, rolling out from the City Park Tennis Center at 8AM. There has been a change in route however. The 103 mile course is not possible, thanks to a barge knocking out the LA-77 bridge across Bayou Gross Tete. Iberville Parish President Mitch Ourso (according to yesterdays paper) will be setting up a ferry service, for pedestrians, and perhaps bicyclists, however that is not a sure thing. Plan B: We will ride river road from Plaquemine to the Audubon Bridge via Port Allen. The intercoastal bridge on LA-1 near the I-10 bridge is a problem, however WBR Sheriff Mike Cazes will be offering an escort for cyclists across the bridge, if we arrive between 10 and 10:30 AM. Because of this rerouting, the 103 mile course becomes 99, and the previous metric century will become a 35 mile ride. What I need from you is a show of hands (reply to this note) if you are planning on riding the 35, and if you can drive a vehicle to Rivault park in advance with presumably room for more than one person and bike. This is a DIY century, and your help is needed. At the end of the 99 mile ride, we will have suitable refreshments, and presumably an opportunity to replace many of the lost calories from the ride at a local eatery TBD. Oh yes, visit ridewithgps for the new preliminary route (Ive got some more refining to do) ridewithgps/routes/4147225 Bruce 225.963.8616 voice or text
