Upcoming author event: Point Northeast Historical Societys annual program will feature author Richard W. Blumenthal, who has researched and produced a book, Maritime Place Names: Inland Washington Waters, will answer all of your questions. He has also published related works like: Early Exploration of Inland Washington Waters and another With Vancouver in Inland Washington Waters where he provides insights from the logs of Captain George Vancouver and his crew who in 1792 came ashore in our area during explorations of the South Sound. See the plaque outside the Lighthouse Cottage commemorating the event. In our attempt to provide quality programs, this is the fourth event featuring local authors who have researched and published works directly related to understanding our area. The two previous authors were: Loraine McConaghy, New Land North of the Columbia: Historic Documents That Tell the Story of Washington State from Territory to Today and Alexandra Harmon, Indians in the Making: Ethnic Relations and Indian Identities around Puget Sound. In addition Karen Haas, local story teller and history re-enactor, brought to life historical figures, such as Thea Foss. Come and bring others for this annual free event to be held this year Thursday, Feb 13, 7pm.at St Matthew Church (6800 Eastside Drive NE, Browns Point)
