Update - apologies for the late notice on the Summer Meet AGA SE hosted at Test Valley GC. However yet again, the Regiment sent a respectable number to take part in the event, even the non serving Darren Lawrenson Dipdogpsy made the time to drive up and catch up with old friends, which was great to see. Well the course was in great condition and by 0830hrs the field of 38 players were off. The course was narrow and with blind bends played its part in frustrating many members of the society, mainly myself, as the event was over 36 holes not all was lost. The leaders at the halfway stage with impressively high stableford scores were Dale Kirk Mccarter 37,Darren Lawrenson 37,and steve Steve Hayzen-smith 35. Knowing that more accolades and silverware was potentially on its way back to the Regiment a good buzz was echoing around the course. The players in contention started the second 18 holes really well continuing with the Par train, but as always coming back on the turn Golf fatigue starts kicking in. Wayward shots one after another begins to place doubt in the minds of the lead contenders at this stage, as the flights started to come to a close we all congregated for the prize giving waiting under the suspense we watched ourselves be narrowly beaten at most of the accolades. But out of the blue, steve was called forward and awarded the prize for best Bandit!! Lol only joking, steve was awarded Div 3 (Higher Hcp) Stableford winner of a combined score of 66 points for the 2 rounds. Big congratulations to steve for picking up yet another award. look forward to 10 Oct 14 for the AGA SE individual stableford Autumn Meet
