Update: 7/24, 5:07 p.m.: We are all concerned about the clots in Butchs leg. The dilemma is that treating them with blood thinners is contraindicated due to his brain injury. His brain injury is small and not an issue at this point. However, blood thinners could change that. The other option is to place a filter through his femoral artery into the vena cava to stop them if they break loose. Im inclined to prefer this course of treatment. We are waiting for neurosurgery and trauma surgery to weigh in. I know this happens, but my heart dropped when they told me. Hes been through so much and is finally making some progress. Please pray that they can safely and completely resolve this In Jesus Name..... He also did not pass his swallow test today. He is still a little weak, so his swallowing is a little lacking. So.....we have homework to do. He responds well to my voice - doing what I tell him to do (Im sure this will change eventually). So I am putting on my drill sergeant hat and getting him going on his exercises. He has to get his vocal cords working again in order to be able to eat. When we mention Bobbys, he brightens up considerably. I dont think we will have trouble getting him ready to pass the test on Monday, dangling Bobbys in front of him.
