Update: Christian has had the busiest day do far!! PT came in early to evaluate him, do some exercises & create a plan... Tomorrow they are putting him on a tilt table & standing him up! Then OT came in to evaluate him & create a plan... She was so patient with Christian & was able to get his brace on his left hand. Wound care also came in to looked him all over; they made some adjustments in his skin care & ordered his special bed. The respiratory therapist today has been great & explaining how they do certain things & how they progress patients off of vents & trachs. Then speech therapy came in for first time... We learned so much from her! She put his PMV valve back in & she did some family training for that as well as taught us ways to help stimulate his senses to make connections again! She actually use to worked in a TBI clinic for veterans. Then we met with the dietitian and discussed how his nutritional requirements could be better met, including adding some vitamins, protein, & also the supplement his neurologist had recommended before. We spoke briefly with the primary doctor who we will see again later along with the case manager. Whew!! No wonder he got really agitated & finally passed out!! Although he had a few rough moments with pain & agitation, we feel pretty positive about this move so far. Please keep the prayers & positivity flowing for Christian...
