Update From Sandra Bideganeta on 7/15 to 7/16 OMG what a difference a day can make. Nine hundred phones calls (Both to me and from me) prevented me from making it up to see our Mirika until evening. She actually had an aurora about her....her color was good, she seemed was very alert and looking at us with both eyes. While speaking to her, she even raised her eyebrows (yes both) in a gesture that she routinely did before the accident, when she was questioning something or just making an expressive facial response. It is amazing what little steps make up a big step to her recovery. I wanted to whisk her out of there - but nope, she has still a long road to tread. I am sure that all of our prayers are combining and helping her with the strength she needs. I am also positive that her having met Alex Balderas, the WONDERFUL new Angel in our lives who found our girl, and the super powers send to her from her super hero boys has added to bringing her to the threshold of escaping her coma. She is almost there, I can feel it. Today (7/16/2013) Mirika will receive a feeding peg in her stomach so that the feeding tube can be removed from her throat; then in a day or so the doctor is planning to remove her respirator tubes in hopes that she will show us she is able to breathe on her own. She has some lung congestion and possible infection and we DO NOT want her to develop Pneumonia. We are hoping for the best (PRAY SOME MORE) but if she still needs some assistance breathing, she will have a tracheotomy done. This is reversible when she is ready as is the feeding peg. Again - please adhere to setting times for one of us, her dad or I, to be at the hospital to allow your requests for visitation. Also - we need to limit these visits to 2 people if possible and 5-10 minutes MAX. I truly believe that this limitation has also allowed her important total rest time, and that is adding to her progress in her recovery. Once again - Thanks to all of you - we will have our beautiful, sweet Mirika back but we have to work together to get her there.
