Update: Over 4 weeks ago we were called about a dog in distress on HWY 11 & HWY 60, a dog that sadly abandoned and had a severe injury to his leg. He was starving to death and well infection had taken over his leg :( We went out and thankfully found a young dog in dire need of our help. We named him Highway and after spending 2 weeks at Dr. Frees waiting to be healthy enough to go under surgery to remove his leg, Highway returned to us 2 weeks ago :) He has gained over 20 pounds and doesnt miss his leg at all. The vet staff told us that he had some behaviors initially when he was there that support how much a dog is willing to do to survive. They told us that for the first couple days he would drink his own urine and feces :( We can only imagine what he had to do to survive until we found him. Regardless of the hardships Highway has endured, he has no resentment towards anyone. He is beyond people friendly, dog and cat friendly, and he on his way to being housebroken. Did I mention he loves to give kisses and enjoys hugs
