Update: Saturday, July 19, 2:30 p.m: Has it really been 13 days? Ive seen families come and families go. Some for happy reasons and some for tragic reasons. There are three of us families who have been here about the same length of time. Ive met some incredible people. People who love God and people who need to. Butch is coasting. They are supporting him while he heals. The miracle here is that the only thing they have to worry about at this point is his lungs. I know that sounds strange, but it could be so much worse. The extent of his injuries and the fact that all ribs, left AND right, are fractured have presented a situation where, without a miracle, he will need to have a tracheostomy. Im OK with that. Its not a set-back. Quite the contrary. He will not need to be sedated nearly as much and will be much much more comfortable. I want him less sedated. I need him to interact with me as soon as he can. I MISS HIM.
