Update Tuesday, Oct.7, 8:30pm Tiffany McCullock finally got settled down around 6pm and slept a little. They have a neat deal here where I can order a guest tray and it is out of an extensive menu. I get an entree, 3 sides, a dessert, and a beverage for about $7.50 delivered to the room. Tonight I had shrimp and grits with cajun cheese sauce, baked potato, garden salad, wheat roll, lemon meringue pie, and tea. Things had been so busy today with Tiffany I had not eat since breakfast around 8am. I ordered my tray around 5:15 and was told it would be here by 6:15pm. My mom and Casey came to visit so I was busy filling them in. I didn’t realize until 7pm my tray had not come? I called and the staff was as confused as me. They said it would be prioritized and a manager would bring it up ASAP. I finally got my tray around 7:45pm. I bet someone, somewhere in this hospital is enjoying a complimentary dinner :) I got a shower and set up Tiffany’s computer to play some really good soaking music Nick gave me while he was here. I am determined to keep a good spiritual atmosphere around Tiffany. I may have discovered why Tiffany has been so wound up. When they took her in yesterday I went over everything with the doc, not to mention they had all her records that came over from Duke. I asked him then to verify with Tiffany’s doc a few meds she was taking before the accident. They originally got this information off my pharmacy app on my phone. I had tried to get Duke to do this with no success so soon as we got to UNC I asked this doc to do it. Tiffany was so restless today two nurses and some of the therapists reported to the doc. Finally her main nurse just went and got him. He came in and said this was to be expected with a head injury. I was not so convinced. After being with her the past 16 days she has had some episodes but nothing like this for this long. He asked me if she had been taking Pristique at Duke. I told him yes and that she had been taking that for quite some time before the accident. I also reminded him about the discussion we had yesterday about this med and one other and verifying it. He then says “well we stopped the Pristique” I asked why and he said “that type medicine you are not supposed to quit cold turkey”. I looked around wondering if he realized the contradiction that just came out of his mouth. I kind of abruptly said then why did YOU take her off it? Then said this could very well be the reason she is so anxious feeling or, at a minimum, a contributing factor. I then insisted he call her doc like I asked yesterday and told him she needs to be given this med until he can consult with Tiffany’s regular doc and come up with a plan. Afterwards I could tell the nurse was dumbfounded even though she understandably didn’t want to say much. They brought Tiff something to help her relax and shes been pretty good every since. I know some think I’m over doing it by staying and keeping up with everything so close but I have seen many things that just should not be and most of them has been from a lack of communication or simply not listening. Glaringly similar to what I see very day in the world. This is why the Bible gives such strong warnings about pride. Pride can cause a mountain of destruction and suffering. I have some wonderful warriors coming tomorrow Sheila Pettigrew Perry and Amy Hegner Jackson to sit with my bride so I can get some much needed rest. Don’t be surprised if I make an appearance at TLC. Keep praying, it works!
