Update from Clean Water Summit: The Planning Committee met by teleconference last night to finalize the declaration, plan for the declaration campaign roll-out, and confirm event dates for January and February: 1. The final, ready to use, FLORIDIANS CLEAN WATER DECLARATION is attached. Feel free to use it in the single-signature format it is in now. 2. Roll-out of the DECLARATION Campaign: The official public roll-out of the campaign will be at a press conference at 11 am on December 12 in front of the FDEP District office in Orlando. We hope every organization and individual who came to the Summit can participate in the press conference but understand that it is a long trip for a 30 minute event. If your organization cannot send a representative, but wants to be identified at the press conference, we will do that both in the press release and visually at the event. 3. January simultaneous events date is Wednesday, January 22 - it is sooner than many wished because of the lack of choices we have for the Tallahassee event in February. A toolkit of a step-by-step process to plan and execute the January events (to provide a template) will be forwarded to all before mid-December. 4. February Tallahassee event date is Thursday, February 6 (tentative) - again, sooner than we wished but the only available date (of all our choices) for the courtyard in February. The reservation request for the courtyard has been sent and we have been informed that it is being processed - we will confirm the Feb. 6 date as soon as we get the final word from the state. • I will be driving up there and representing Marine Cleanup Initiative Inc • Dyana Voss will be attending for Conservation Alliance of St. Lucie County • Marty Baum says he cannot attend, so I will carry the Riverkeepers Banner to be part of the rally. They seek banners or representative from each group. There should be several ride options considering the number of groups and members who attended from our area so do not hesitate to ask if there is room in anyones car. I will attach the Declaration in the next posting.
