Update from Manchester Dogs Home UPDATE The staff and trustees of Manchester Dogs’ Home would like to express their enormous gratitude for the huge support received from the public following the devastating fire on site Thursday night. All of the surviving dogs are now being cared for – the majority of them going to sister site Cheshire Dogs’ Home near Warrington – and those in need of veterinary treatment have been receiving it. The Dogs’ Home has been inundated with messages of support from members of the public and local businesses. Donations can be made via justgiving/dogshome. Dog food and blankets are also needed, we have now setup a telephone number – 08445040404 staffed by volunteers to co-ordinate enquiries – members of the public are urged not to come to Manchester Dogs’ Home, as the police investigation will be continuing and access is restricted. Other charities stepped in immediately to help, for which the Dogs’ Home is also very grateful. While the charity now needs to assess the situation and determine next steps, Manchester Dogs’ Home would like to commend its staff, many of whom witnessed atrocious sights on Thursday evening. In the coming days the Dogs’ Home will be letting members of the public know how they can help both practically and financially. We would like to express our enormous gratitude to the local community for their wonderful help during this sad event. Our heartfelt thanks also go out to the Emergency Services for their consumate professionalism and caring assistance. We are still looking for short or long term foster homes for our dogs, you will appreciate that there is a limited number of dogs available thanks to the generous response from the public. If you are interested please call at our Cheshire Dogs’ Home site at 225 Knutsford Road, Grappenhall Warrington WA4 3JZ during normal hours.
