Update from Storm Command: Todays crews worked through the rain to clean up storm debris on Elgins east side, in whats considered the Tuesday garbage collection route. Crews also worked hard to finish up Slade Ave. south to Kimball, from Dundee to the river. Crews noticed a lot of brush and branches around the Lords Park and Gifford Park area, and plan to sweep again tomorrow morning. Once the rain cleared up, crews were able to sweep Elgins main streets once more. On Thursday, city forestry crews, public works and city contractor Davey Tree will work in the area bordered by McLean Blvd., Route 31, Highland Ave., and South St. City contractor JPC Tree Care will join this area after the east side areas have been addressed.
