Update from Ulster County Emergency Services - The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity has caused the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory from noon to 8 PM today. Heat indices may reach 100 degrees. We can probably expect these conditions to continue for the remainder of the week (Wednesday looks to be the most oppressive day). Some basic tips for remaining cool: - drink plenty of fluids - stay in air conditioned spaces - stay out of the sun when at all possible - wear light and loose clothing - try to avoid strenuous work in the afternoon hours - check on neighbors and the elderly - do not leave pets in your car The following link is provided by the UC Department of Health and contains additional tips: health.ny.gov/publications/1243.pdf and in Spanish: health.ny.gov/publications/1244.pdf If you do not have air conditioning in your home, seek public spaces that do - shopping centers, libraries, etc. Additionally, the following locations will be open as cooling stations: Family of Woodstock, 16 Rock City Rd from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM Town of Lloyd Town Hall, 12 Church Street Town of Wawarsing Town Hall, 108 Canal Street, noon to 4 PM each day this week, except Wednesday when it will be open 2-4 PM
