Update of joint visit with Cardenden Community council representative to the wood chipping plant and purvis site. RWE gave assurance that the chips would begin to be transported during November but again this would be dependent on the progress at Tullis Russell. Despite stating at the meeting the week before that the mound we see at the top of the hill outside the compound of RWE was a temporary leasing from Purvis due to the delay in sending chip to TR, it was now being suggested that they may use the site on a more permanent basis and site the chipping machine up there. I asked if they intended to build a shed there too for storage but there is no intent to do this. RWE made it clear they have not broken any planning conditions. I reminded them that the difficulty was that they were pushing the boundaries and that this was what made people suspicious and angry as it appeared they were disregarding the fact that people lived nearby and had a right to know what was happening. We will monitor what happens here as it is not clear yet why they need to have this extra storage when the original site was deemed to be the correct capacity for what they needed. RWE will keep in touch and if there are any further concerns re dust or noise then they do want to know, although it is winter and this will reduce. Purvis gave a tour of their site and again were keen to work with us to address any issues. They informed that they have not received any complaints which indicates that people are not complaining through the right channels for it to be recorded. Therefore if anyone has any concerns or complaints please let us know who and when you contact the relevant agencies so that we can collate the information. We will continue to liaise with the local councillors and keep everyone updated. There is a community council meeting 14.11.13 at 7pm in the Corrie Centre where it is one of the issues to be discussed.
