Update on Ashlie: Its now been a week since Ashlies surgery and she is feeling so much better. No severe headaches and she is so much happier. Her voice is softer and calm and she has had no anxiety. Its been 3 years since I have seen her like this! Tonight we had another ridiculous laughing attack and I felt so much stress lifted from us both. I am so thankful for the physicians that encouraged us to go ahead with placing the shunt. We have the most brilliant and compassionate Neurointensivest/neurologist right here in Eugene. Elaine Skalabrin came from running the Stroke center in Salt Lake City just months before Ashlies trauma. Ive never known a physician that gives so much of herself in order to care not only for her patient but for the patients family. I dont know how we have her in our little city of Eugene, but I thank God for her. Im also so thankful for Dr Neil Roundy for stepping up and taking on Ashlie as his patient. So many physician/surgeons are afraid to get involved because Ash has been so fragile. By him doing this procedure Ashlie could have a good gut wrenching laugh tonight without feeling like her head was going to explode. I guess tonight Im feeling at peace and just so thankful for who God has brought into our lives.
