Update on Brody or maybe I should just say an update on Superman - TopicsExpress

Update on Brody or maybe I should just say an update on Superman because this little fella is unbelivable and a testimony that with GOD all things are possible. At 3 am Sunday morning when the surgeon came out to share all of his bad news and trust me there was very little good, he told us to pray for a miracle. The family as a whole called in every prayer warrior that was up for the challenge and boy has it paid off!!! Let me share with you how. We were told that Brody had a double Mal rotation and that 90% of his small intestines appeared dead. We all sat dazed and confused. He would not be able to thrive and live a normal life with only 10%,. Brody would have what is called Short Bowel Syndrome. With that would come a life long battle of hospital stays, permanent feedings via feeding tube and the list goes on. So our big question to Dr. Doom was is there a chance that the dead intestines could rejuvenate/come back to life and he said pray for a miracle and we will see where we are tomorrow. Well let me just say there wasnt a dry eye in the room and I am pretty sure we could literally hear each others hearts beating. How could this happen? He appeared so perfect, the pregnancy was flawless and he comes from the most loving Christian home with two parents that absolutely adored him (oh, and grandparents that thought he already hung the moon). We had so many questions for God and bounced 100 scenarios around all day! Yesterday morning God showed up and reminded us all day who was the boss. When Joni and CJ arrived at the hospital the surgeon (aka Dr. Doom) cracked a smile I dont think he believed what he was seeing. Brodys dead intestines were coming back to life. They were turning pink meaning they were getting some blood flow. Every 2 hrs when they changed his bandage the pink was moving further and further up the bag. We were ecstatic and our tears quickly turned to joy. This morning the regular Med Center PICU doctor was back from vacation and decided that he would like to do an exploratory surgery this afternoon on Brody so he could see for himself what was going and at that time what he had to work with. What he had to work with was 67% of GOOD & REJUVENATED intestines. In 48 hrs with thousands of prayers we went from 10% to 67% can I get an AMEN??? If all goes well and these intestines keep thriving Brody will lead a perfectly normal life!!! They will perform another procedure after the swelling has gone down and put his intestines back in place and will slowly begin nutrition. Superman has a rough couple of days ahead maybe a few weeks but if he shows out like he has the last 48 hours anything is possible! From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all of the texts, phone calls & messages but most of all THANK YOU for your prayers and well wishes because without that we wouldnt be where we are today!
