Update on John...Its been a week of challenges and exciting new movement!! I love the scripture in Matthew15:30. “Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them”. We know God is the same yesterday, today and forever!! God is the God of the incurable. When doctors say no way God says YES WAY!! Because he is THE WAY!!!! The first several weeks the therapist would ask John to move something and then they would say...”Thats great John” and I would be looking around and thinking ...”What did they see cause I saw nothing”...Ive since learned that they could feel the muscle activating when they touched that area and then eventually they could see it move and then finally that body part would move. Thats has been the progression so far for his head, neck, mouth and shoulders. The video I posted is of his toes moving for the first time this week. He does it 3 times on command and it is very small...you have to look closely. Maria, his physical therapist was so excited!! Even though I have believed since day one that John would be fully restored it doesn’t stop the excitement and awe I feel when I finally see it manifesting. John had his barium testing this week and they saw under ex-ray that his tongue still isn’t strong enough to move a substance fully into the esophagus. It was spilling over into his airway. Of course we were disappointed but as his speech therapist says, this is not a pass or fail test just a diagnostic assessment. Ok...whatever...I was disappointed. I didn’t show it to John and know that I have to be patient. It was kind of funny though. When they wheeled him out he was coughing so much that it looked like he was foaming at the mouth with all that milky pinkish barium coming out and his shirt was spattered all over. I reach down to help clean him up and he let another cough go right in my face. I had barium all over my face. He started laughing so hard that more barium was flying everywhere. Both of his therapist were dressed as Ninja turtles for Halloween and John had that afro wig on and I looked like I had a diseased face. The whole ordeal was so funny and lightened the moment. The Lord has really given me favor. I have been able to sleep every night here in the bed next to John since being at the Rehab Hospital. Its important to Johns recovery to have me here participating in all his therapy especially because he cant speak right now. They have also allowed me to bring my computer in and I am now able to work 25hr a week. I have a little office set up in the corner of his room. My boss has been so understanding and flexible with our needs. As we all know life still goes on in the midst of tragedy. Thank you all who are helping support us financially. John and I have received an overflow of love from all of you through your prayers, visits, calls, and support. This love reminds me of the scripture that says God will pour out a blessing upon you that you cannot contain it. I honestly am having a hard time containing the love coming our way through you.
