Update on Kevin from his mom. She appreciates all our prayers. Please feel free to share and add Kevin to prayer lists. We walk by faith and not by sight- 2 Corinthians 5:7 Sep 14, 2014 4:49 PM Throughout most of this journey we have felt like we are in the dark. Sometimes it seems like it gets even darker. Tonight we found out that Kevin has pneumonia (needs more antibiotics) and more vasospasms on both sides of his brain. (2 moderate on the right and 1 moderate and 1 severe on the left) What does this mean? Well, its not good but they really dont know from a clinical (or functional) standpoint if this causes more damage or disability because hes in such a deep coma (medicine is keeping him in this coma). Tomorrow they still plan to withdraw this paralyzing medicine but they told us to be prepared as it takes quite some time before it wears off. So we will wait some more and perhaps see some (even if small) changes. Please pray that as he wakes we see positive (good) changes and that he has purposeful movements. I am especially worried (the Occupational Therapist side of me) about Kevin getting his swallowing back and being able to cough. Pray specifically that he would eventually be able to swallow (without having it go into his lungs- aspirating) and that his cranial nerves are not damaged. Also, in spite of any brain damage, that Kevin can compensate well, adapt or gradually regain functional skills. Pray that he has few residual problems (yes, I AM asking for a miracle!) With God all things are possible and I believe and have seen miracles in my life! Thanks prayer warriors- it will be an uphill marathon, with the journey long and destination unknown. Trust and believe with me- Mark 11:24 says: So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Even in this dark time, I trust Jesus, my light and my salvation!
