Update on Meriam Ibrahim sentenced to death & 100 lashes in Sudan for refusing to convert to Islam: * Meriam is being pressured to convert by Muslim clerics under threats. These are mind-control tactics: Her response: “If they want to execute me, then they should go ahead and do it, because Im not going to change my faith.” Praise God for her courage. * She, her toddler and newborn child are being held in an unsanitary disease ridden prison - which is a threat to the life of her newborn. * She was forced to give birth in chains. * The lawyer has accused those of who accused her of trying to steal her property, of lying in court and the court refusing to hear evidence to that effect. * In response to outside pressure, the Sudan government have promised to release her, but her lawyer has said we should not believe promises by the government until they actually do release her. She is still in jail. * If you are in Cape Town, there will be a prayer meeting for Meriam outside the main Gates of Parliament, Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 to 13H30 * If you are in Gauteng, please join the picket outside the Sudanese Embassy at 12:30-13:30 on 3rd June 14 at 1203 Pretorius Street, Hatfield or email them at 012 342 4538 [email protected] to demand her release. * Please also email the South African ambassador to Sudan [email protected] or phone +249 183 585 301 to ask him to speak up for her.
