Update on Natalie: She has a Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) it is a condition presenting as a rapid heart rhythm originating at or above the atrioventricular node. (For her age..her heart rate should be around 140 or up to 180 at the most). She has had two of these spells where her heart rate has gotten up into the 250-270 range. The first time they were able to get it back down to the normal range by getting a bag of ice water and covering her face for just a second which causes them to go into a little shock mode and helps her heart to reset (per-say) so that was good that they were able to get it back on track without medication. Although about an hour or two later she has another one and the ice pack didnt work so they had to give her medicine to get her heart rate back on track. For now, she is stable (although receiving oxygen to keep those levels up) and they are continuing to give her the medication to help with the SVT. The cardiologist will be coming and talking to us in the morning to let us know what we will need to be doing from here on out to help resolve this problem. The problem could (possibly) resolve itself over time but then again it may not, which will mean that she will be taking medication for as long as she has these spells. I tried to explain to the best of my ability but its been quite a long afternoon so my mind is just going in circles. We will update again in the morning after we speak with the cardiologist but for now please oh please continue praying for our sweet and beautiful Baby Natalie! We love each and every one of you and are very thankful to everyone that has stopped and prayed for her today! We are praying for a very boring night with NO spells whatsoever!
