Update on #Shaw: -Protesters arranged a sit-down protest in front of a Quik Trip gas station. -Police were called and showed up in riot gear. -Were beating batons against the ground as a fear tactic -Protestors refused to move. The police claim that someone began throwing rocks at them. Despite the fact that they should all legally be wearing body cams that would give prove and the fact that there were media cams and cell phones out, there is no footage of this happening. -Police pushed the protestors up to the wall and pepper sprayed them. -There is footage of police needlessly pushing batons into sensitive areas of the body. I will link in comments with one video, but there are more on instagram and twitter. tw on screaming, loud noises, etc -Protestors thought they might be safer because they had legal representatives from the National Lawyers Guild out with them...they just got sprayed and arrested, too 17 protestors in total were arrested. On the bright side, a protestor that was held for 1.5 days with no food was released and picked up.
