Update on Truman and Bessie vet visit for today: Bessie is at an ok weight has some joint abnormality caused from her High positive test of Anaplasmosis and Anemia which is what is causing her to have trouble digesting her food. Bessie although has symptoms that are not as bad Truman she is still uncomfortable because of her digestive system and stiffness. Truman is now about 20lbs underweight and will not be able to be neutered until he puts at least 15lbs on and is clear of all illnesses. Truman is anemic which is causing is liver levels to be off, he also tested High positive for Lyme Disease. He has a torn Meniscus that went untreated and is now severely arthritic in his hind end and far worse in his left hind due to the knee injury. He has a double ear infection and an infection in his penis area. His callused elbows are oozing so he is on a topical ointment for that. He was given a steroid injection today to help ease the pain faster from the arthritis and would put him on less pills to have to take per day. Xrays on all four limbs and spine will be done when he is more stable on his feet, it appears that he puts more pressure on his front end to relieve pain from his hind. He will have a recheck in 10 days and Bessie in a few weeks. At that time it will be determined of what long term medications he should be on for his arthritis. They both have server tartar and decay on their teeth, and will both remain on a bland diet with probiotics until their digestive systems are back on track. The vet bills combined with the emergency room visit has totaled over $1500 and we are still waiting on other tests and bloodwork that had to be sent out as well as follow up care.
