Update on West Side Shooting from police: Police continue to investigate west side shooting Members of the Lethbridge Regional Police Criminal Investigation Division continue to investigate a shooting incident that occurred during the early morning hours Sunday. On Aug. 31, 2014 at approximately 2:30 a.m. police responded to a report of a shooting outside Pop’s Taphouse & Grill West located at 132 Columbia Boulevard following an altercation between two groups of people in the parking lot. Investigation determined that a 23-year-old Lethbridge man sustained a single non-life-threatening gunshot injury to the abdomen. He was subsequently transported to hospital, treated and released. No one else was injured. Witnesses reported that a group of people in the strip mall parking lot got into an altercation with the victim which culminated in the discharge of a firearm. This incident appears to be a random crime as the subjects are unknown to the victim. Investigation in the matter is ongoing and police continue to interview various parties. Several persons of interest have been identified, however no charges have been laid at this time and no further details will be released. Public safety is our priority and resources have been working around the clock pursuing various avenues of investigation.
