Update on my brother, Andy. He has hyperparathyroidism. Ive learned a lot about it the last few days. We all have 4 glands behind our thyroid called parathyroid. They secrete hormones that release calcium into our body. Andy has one or more of these glands over producing calcium in his bloodstream. This results in kidney failure + can also damage other organs. It can kill a person. The only way to completely take care of it is to have that overactive gland or glands surgically removed. When Andy was first admitted his kidneys were only functioning at 14 percent. Today they are at 50 percent or higher. They suffered damage so will never be 100 percent again. He is being released today and an appointment is being made for his surgery. Prayers are still appreciated as this could effect his job etc... thanks
