Update on my latest wrong place, wrong time escapade... I saw an orthopedic surgeon Thursday morning at 8:40 AM. She came in, felt three places on my leg, I grimaced and groaned, and she announced that I had ruptured my plantaris muscle. Its vestigial, like our appendix - it has no function that were aware of these days. They use it to repair/replace other muscles when necessary. In spite of this fact, and that everyone (including me!) is glad that I didnt injure my Achilles tendon, it will still take six to eight weeks to heal, and it will still swell and be very painful. Im also supposed to wear a boot to keep my ankle immobilized, which is all well and good, except I drive a standard, and I cant clutch with the boot on. Sooooo, I take the boot off when Im driving, and then my entire leg is swollen and sore for a looooong time afterward. Im looking at trying to rent an automatic, but that is going to be prohibitively expensive for 6-8 weeks. * sigh* I could use a little encouragement, God! = / Thank you for the prayers, thoughts, good vibes and positive energy - please keep em comin! = ) *bear hugs*
