Update on our new boy, now named ATTICUS: Atticus, 7 years old, - TopicsExpress

Update on our new boy, now named ATTICUS: Atticus, 7 years old, came to us as an owner surrender after YEARS of neglect. He was rescued two days ago on Easter Sunday. Atticus had been isolated behind closed doors in his former home because he smells. It turns out that he smells because his flesh is literally rotting around his tail from a raging infection that has never been treated (see photo). He has severe separation anxiety and literally hasnt stopped crying in pain (and presumably from anxiety as well) since we picked him up. This poor boy has been through hell. He desperately needs his tail amputated, but we have to address the infection first with multiple heavy duty antibiotics. Atticus is currently sedated to have the area cleaned out by the vet today and he has been started on multiple meds for the infection and pain. Hopefully he can have the surgery soon. The tail is only one of his many problems, all of which will require MAJOR vet care. The tail is just the most emergent and critical issue. As you can see, he also has a raw neck where his collar used to be. This poor sweet boy is in really rough shape. If you would like to donate to his vet care, PLEASE do so on our website: ilenglishbulldogrescue.org. We definitely need help funding the extensive care he needs. Atticus has a long road ahead of him, but we WILL get him through all of this. Our hearts are broken here at IEBR thinking about the pain and agony this wonderful boy has endured for so long - ALONE. We cant even imagine. And despite it all, he is a total sweetheart and desperate for love, human interaction, and attention. This boy is definitely special. Thank you for any help you can give us - every dollar makes a difference.
