Update on pocket rocket. I cut feed tube to sit 1 above the lid of the 5gal bucket and it sits 2 1/2 inches from the bottom of the still insulated (cob and perlite) bottom of the barrel. (I insulated hoping that I wouldnt burn out the bottom of the barrel so fast, but the whole thing gets really hot, so is probably pointless) My feed tube is 4 and my exhaust pipe is 3 pipe. It runs for 4ft up, then an elbow, then 2ft. One of those feet is inside the structure, the other 1 foot outside. It worked pretty darn well. I need to learn how to light it better, as I got a room of smoke until it started drafting. I balled up paper at the bottom of the feed tube then put more balled up paper up the feed tube with sticks all around it. I think I could use less paper, making sure to keep 1/2 the feed tube open to prevent the smoking. Ill try putting a votive candle at the other end. So now i just need to think about positioning, making sure I leave enough room to be safe from walls, close up the rest of the 8x8 sauna, and see how it all performs! Id love to get the space up to 115 degrees. Any tips on starting a pocket rocket, greatly appreciated. Any ideas/experience in how much longer I can extend the exhaust...like how far it needs to run straight up before I can make a turn in it. If it would still draw, I can put a serious turn in it to keep the heat longer in the structure. Thanks! How exciting!
