Update on proposed state education budget and what it means to you: of the $547M in next years budget, $314M is allocated specifically to reduce furlough days, increase instructional days and (if there is money available) increase teacher salaries through a one time bonus or local system supplement. The money will be allocated based on the number of students in the system so Cobb should get around $28-32M and Fulton should get around $22-25M. It will help close the $79M shortfall in Cobb but there is still more work to be done.
