Update on the found gun; I called the police and they sent an officer to look at it and get the details. He could not definitely identify the serial number and said they would not send it to a crime lab which would be the next step. I told him that my house was vacant at the time I bought it and had been for a few months. He said it was possible that some thug had used it to commit a crime and decided this was a good hiding place since it was empty and he could dig without being seen behind the fence. Nothing more to be done; he congratulated my grandson on his find. He did display his sense of humor, said he told the others at the station when I called that they may have discovered the gun that killed Kennedy.
