Update on the info I had requested that our American cousins may have had access to re John Outwin born 1790 and brother to my ancestor William Outwin who married Mary Hutton Chester and who I believe may have been the first Outwin to have emigrated from UK to USA. I have pieced together some things from census and a book called The Annals of Albany, a few other records, along with a ships passenger list showing his outward passage to the USA. John Outwin: Arrived New York on 18 October 1822 on the ship Mount Vernon. Sailed from Liverpool. He married sometime before 1824 as a death record for a daughter Elizabeth indicates she was born in 1824. Johns wife was called Margaret, and I presume from the names of one of their children her surname may have been McDonald. Her age given in 1880 census indicates she was born around 1791, but the 1850 census takes 9 to 10 years off this age. Likewise for daughter Elizabeth who is given as 20 in 1850 census...... therefore the ages of certain offspring may be debatable. However, from the annals of Albany we know about children John Outwin who died 14 march 1833 aged 2years, 2months and 21 days ( so birth 22 December 1830), Alexander McDonald Outwin who died 1st March 1833 aged 3years, 10 months and 23 days ( so birth 7 April 1829) and Margaret Outwin died 26th august 1833 aged 5years, 11months and 5days (so birth 22nd September 1827). If these ages are correct that would make Elizabeth the eldest with Margaret second, Alexander third and John fourth. From the 1850 census there are two further children in William, who from census data is born circa 1833/1834 and Mary born circa 1837/1838. This also indicates that his children were possibly named after (in order of age ranking) 1... his mother who was Elizabeth Womack, 2...his wife, 3....possibly her father (so need to search for Alexander Mcdonalds in New York area), 4.... his father or himself, 5.... his brother William and 6.... his sister, Mary. John Outwin dies10th February 1845 and his wife Elizabeth dies in 1882 (record of date and month is available on Ancestry, along with date and month for son William who died in 1890..... these are all in Menards Rural Cemetery in Albany, New York. Daughter Elizabeth is also buried there. Her death record for Elizabeth Outwin Smith says she was born 1824 and died 17th January 1905 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. She was married Robert Cummings Smith who lived 1826-1860 and they had a son Peter Smith who lived 17th February 1857 to 14th September 1860. 1850 census attached
