Update on the situation about my niece Aja: A meeting was held yesterday in which a closer review of the entire ordeal was taken. The Superintendent has initiated steps to correct and proceed with administrative staff to ensure that her best interests are met. Information was also turned over that will help them AND local authorities along with legal counsel to proceed with pursuing the other minors who were involved with the bullying. Although the time my niece has missed out of school CANNOT be given back, the fact that they are going to accommodate her based off what would work in HER best interest moving forward is definitely a step in a positive direction. There were other resolutions met that will NOT be shared publicly however, I will say this.. YOU ALL PLAYED A VERY VITAL PART IN THIS. The repeat calls to the Bolingbrook Police, the School, flooding their phone lines, sharing her story and bringing light to bullying as well as the media coverage REALLY set the tone for the meeting yesterday. Her story was heard AROUND the world and that was enough noise to knock on some doors locally. Aja Henry Is a very smart and intelligent young lady who deserves the right to impact the world. She will have an amazing journey as GOD has chosen her to LEAD. Her mom has worked around the clock NON-STOP to bring awareness and I commend her for never shutting up. On behalf of my sister Oceannspray Shaneka and my niece Aja Henry, I want to sincerely thank EACH and EVERYONE of you. You all are a true example of what happens when a village comes together NON-VIOLENTLY for a greater cause and you should stand proudly today knowing YOU were part of the resolution and NOT the problem.
