Update time! Also, there is a very special video of photos taken by a photographer who donated a session for us through the Tiny Footprints Project. Definitely look this organization up...they do an incredible service for NICU families! Anyways, this video is so sweet and has made a few people shed some tears, including myself. Emma weighed in at 6 pounds 4oz on Thursday. That was only a 5oz gain from the week before, and she needs to gain at least an ounce a day so the home nurse will be coming again this week to weigh her. We are shooting for as close to 7 pounds as we can get. Feeding time is starting to become a struggle. Sometimes shell eat 3oz with no issue...the next time shell give up at a little less than an ounce left...and lately shed been throwing up as she reaches the end of a bottle. We are trying different ways to help her eat the whole 3oz (she cant afford not to! she MUST gain weight!) like letting her rest for a good half hour after she slows down and then let her finish it. We also try to let her lay flat and still for a good few minutes before we sit her up to burp her, and we sit her up and pat her extremely gently. She is in all newborn clothes now. Still havent seen a true social smile yet. Shes very strong though and holds her head up on her own for even longer periods of time everyday. We have a very important meeting with a doctor in genetics on Wednesday that has us extremely nervous. We are gladly excepting prayers and good thoughts for this appointment. We will let you guys know more as we find out more information.
