(Updated Version) Sopore Encounter: Only one militant body found so far =>Police and army have recovered only one militant body while another militant has reportedly escaped from the encounter site at Krankshiven Colony, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Official sources told GNS that as the joint team of forces was clearing the debris, one of the trapped militant, Javid Ahmad Matoo of Khushal Matoo, Sopore surfaced beneath it and start firing. In the melee, the militant reportedly managed to escape from the cordoned area, sources said, adding that searches have been extended to adjacent areas. However, when last reports came in, no arrests were made. Earlier in the morning, the joint team of forces had announced the end of 18-hour long encounter. Based on wireless intercepts they have killed to have killed two militants, sources had said. (GNS)
