**Updated as at 4.02pm** SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND for DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in the BRISBANE CITY and parts of the GYMPIE, MORETON BAY, IPSWICH CITY, SUNSHINE COAST and REDLAND CITY Council Areas. Issued at 4:02 pm Sunday, 24 November 2013. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:05 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Samford and Kin Kin. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast to northeast. They are forecast to affect Brisbane CBD, Enoggera, Boreen Point, Lake Cootharaba and Lake Cooloola by 4:35 pm. Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely. A 107 km/h wind gust was recorded at Sunshine Coast Airport at 3:00pm. Generally marble to golf ball sized hail was observed from thunderstorms this afternoon. Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 5:05 pm.
