This could happen to YOU at your local comicbook store! Nothing makes a great comic like a kick-ass villain. Ambitions of grandeur and conquering the universe are hard to quit cold turkey no matter what universe you relocate to. Lucky for us, we have Larry White, a comic-book enthusiast who knows all of their strengths and weaknesses to keep them in check. To be honest, it IS Larrys fault that we have to deal with the villains in the first place. I mean seriously, if you see a glowing gauntlet... YOU DONT TOUCH IT! Heres a guy that sees a real life infinity gauntlet and instead of thinking of winning the lottery or sleeping with super models, he starts thinking of villains... Villains that begin to materialize in our reality because this dude had creation in his fat little fingers and decided to go all Ray Stantz on us. I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood. - Dr. Raymond Stantz Im sorry, Im just, Im a little upset and you should be too because WHO do we have to defend TATES? Larry?! Larry could hardly pop the top off a can of soda, let alone punch the lights out of Scarecrow. Maybe Larrys plan is to whine them to death or maybe theyll leave on their own accord if Larry promises to stop asking them for autographs. If he wants to keep his job at TATES comics and pretty much save the world, hell figure out a way to send them back. Every time someone tried to put them together -- to create the Infinity Gauntlet -- Earth, our existence, held on by a thread. - Dr. Reed Richards I have always loved comics and big story arcs with multiple universes. Hypothetically if they could travel to different parallel universes, then they can travel to our universe. Its like were a lame parallel universe where no one has powers. Earth-616 must be just a couple blocks away from our earth right? This web series is going to explore the what if comics werent fictional but they were written based on intuition. Besides, Larry is good at playing the most unlikely of heroes. Why raise money through Kickstarter? This project is fairly ambitious but it can grow into a bigger season if the demand is high enough, which is why we are turning to kickstarter for help. To add production value to the web series, we are looking to rent camera stabilization equipment like the defy gimbal in order to shoot fast while maintaining steady camera footage. It will save us time compared to setting up sliders and dollies. Carving out a section for catering so people can stay on set and work longer days, renting appropriate lighting and securing several locations outside of TATES comics. Donation breakdown Donation breakdown Each episode will be 6 - 10 minutes on youtube. We plan on releasing a weekly episode starting on the first of November. The cost per episode is a little over a thousand including equipment, lights, props and food. So we will have a stretch goal that when we hit any increment of a thousand over the initial goal, we will add an extra episode to the series from initial concept! So at $7,525 we will add an episode and $8,525 so on. Concept art Concept art Final Shout Outs. This project has been conceptualized and drafted for several months and it wouldnt exist without the support of Tate and Amanda for allowing this nonsense in their store. They are not profiting from this or asking for any money to shoot in their store. Ive been really lucky that they have allowed me to film their events and meet really great people in the process. I also need to shout out to Aaron Smith for being involved with his notorious Dr. Doom cosplay you may have seen on the Megacon episode of Heroes of Cosplay. You should definetely check out his other work, like Apocalypse and keep tabs on him for future awe-inspiring cosplays. Heroes of Cosplay - Megacon Heroes of Cosplay - Megacon Thanks to Philip DeFranco and the Sourcefed gang for checking out the trailer. Thanks to Walter Flanagan from Comic book Men for setting up some flyers in Jay and Silent Bobs Secret Stash. Heres Taylor from Kickstarter who gave us the Staff Pick title at their fancy new offices in Brooklyn. Thanks for the support guys. Pryde for being a part of the cast and crew. Jenny Lorenzo for contributing her acting talents to the cast. Laura Blue for creating beautiful art for the series. Laura Blue Art Laura Blue Art And the amazing Scott Blair for offering to create an exclusive old school cinema style poster for the series. Scott Blair Art Scott Blair Art Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter One of the set backs could be delay in production; having some one sick or unavailable. To avoid set back we are planning on filming for 6 months and then releasing the episodes on a weekly basis on the first of November carrying us into December where all of the rewards will be handed out and a screening will be held. If we fall back one month we have time to catch up on the next and meet deadlines for the end of the year. Luckily I have a group of friends mostly comprised of editors, so if we hit any post production problems, help is just a phone call away. We could always use more cosplayers to help us represent some of these villains. Well be at local conventions and all of the TATES events looking for people to help and talking to people about the project. What you can do is share this to cosplayers you know or follow, who you think would be great in the series. Let them know what were trying to do and that youd love to see them represent your favorite villain in the series. Another set back we could face is if a costume is damaged. We had this problem on our Deathstroke: Origins shoot and how we handled it was adding a little more post production. We repaired the costume on site with duct-tape, then rotoscoped out all of the duct-tape that appeared in the shots so the costume looked good as new. FAQ Have a question?
