Updates! Its been a while since I really mentioned what Ive been up to, other than a new song here, an open mic there, so heres some info for those of you who I havent talked to lately. Firstly, Im still trying to finish up the next album. Wait, did I ever even announce that? Well, heck, I guess nows a good time. Hugh Manatee and Other Favorites is a collection of songs Ive gathered over the past couple of years, many of which I now play live. Most of it can currently be found on Soundcloud, but there will be a few exclusive tracks and rerecordings to set it apart, most of which Ive already finished. Ive pretty well nailed down the tracklist, and its gonna be about 14 tracks with only a couple dedicated to shenaniganry -- fans of I Love You, Root Beer, yes, that will be on this album. Once Ive finalized the music, I will still have to work on the packaging, cause Im all about that packaging. Hugh Manatee and Other Favorites will come in upcycled jewel cases with a full booklet that has yet to be photographed and designed (I already have people pegged to help with this). If Im confident enough in the results, I will likely attempt to pitch this to local retailers. Im also thinking maybe a release show. Thats how good I feel about this. Ok, ok, secondly. Secondly, Ive been opening up my horizons a bit to see what else I might be able to do gig-wise. As most of you know, I play at the Paramount regularly, but Ive made a couple of connections here and there, and Im seeing that I can probably book other small venues, too. I havent made any substantial headway in this arena yet, but if anyone has any tips or opportunities, please, send em this way! Until then, you can almost always find me at the District House and Paramount open mics. Thirdly, I have felt the need to take on a second part-time job for the next few months. Its seasonal, so it wont be a huge change, but I expect it will significantly cut into my creative time. This means that I really have no idea how quickly these projects will get finished or if Ill be as active on the open mic circuit. Im pretty determined to make Hugh Manatee happen by Spring, though; well see. Anyway, thats about it for now. Sorry about the massive paragraphs, but Im wordy that way. And besides, what else are you gonna preoccupy yourself with this Christmas season when Dad and Uncle Jim are arguing about Ferguson and North Korea? Youre welcome.
