Upper Lake to Hold Steeple Chase Mudder Run -- By John Woods All runners set aside Saturday, August 10 at 8 AM. The 1st annual “Walnut Steeple Chase Mudder” will be put on in Upper Lake, on the school’s cross country course. This will be a community race for runners of all ages. The course will include mud pits that must be navigated as well as hay bale hurdles to contend with, much like the old style European steeple chase cross country races. Awards will be given to each top 3 in each age group. Entries are available at Upper Lake High School, and will be online at the school’s website soon. Online registration is available on Active, search Upper Lake Walnut Steeple Chase Mudder. It’s okay to sign up on race morning between 6:45 and 7:45 AM. Proceeds of the race will go to purchasing new hurdles for the Upper Lake Track and Field team, so they can conduct home meets and towards a large digital read out clock for both cross country and track. Runners are urged to pre-register to ensure getting a t-shirt in the right size.
