General Position Definition The Finance for Global Functions (FGF) organization (Upstream IT Finance is part of FGF) is the principal provider of professional finance advice and services to the global Upstream businesses and functions, supporting them in meeting their business objectives and improving performance. It is seeking to improve finance processes and introduce innovations that deliver significant value added to its partners. The success of the organization will depend on attracting dynamic staff, who have a strong focus on driving performance improvements and who can perform effectively in a fast changing global environment. Position Description Purpose The Upstream ITSO/Delivery & Design Finance Analyst (Upstream ITSO/D&D FA) is responsible for ensuring data integrity and providing sound, timely and high quality analysis, financial reports and forecasting to decision makers under the direction of the Upstream ITSO Finance Manager and the Upstream D&D IT Finance Manager. The Upstream ITSO/D&D FA will work closely together with the Service & Operations Managers (SOM) in Upstream Americas (UA), the Design & Delivery organization in UA and the UA IT Finance Manager. In addition, the Upstream ITSO/D&D FA will work closely together with the SOM finance teams of the other businesses in their objective to manage and coordinate IT spend for ITSO in a consistent and high quality way across the Enterprise. The role will also work closely together with IT Finance Managers in Upstream International Lines of Business. Accountabilities The role requires a strong focus on driving performance improvements and delivering direct value to the UA Business and the ITSO organization. A sound understanding of the IT business will be seen as a preference. Finance Leadership Prepare SOM UA for the Business Performance Appraisal discussion with the Vice President (VP) & Chief Information Officer (CIO) ITSO and the ITSO Finance Manager as well as for the appraisal session with the UA CIO and the UA IT Finance Manager Provide insights to UA D&D team leads on their financial numbers Ensure financial discipline in the UA SOM and D&D organizations is maintained (Compliance Focal Point for IT) Ensure financial and time writing discipline is maintained in UA SOM and D&D Ensure integrity of data by actively promoting data quality (e.g. accrual management) Ensure compliance with Group standards Management Information and Business Decision Support Responsible for adequate and timely delivery of management information Analyzing monthly results, comparing budget and latest estimates and explaining material variances. Support Upstream IT functional reporting requirements Business Plan & Strategy Support SOM UA in setting and driving the IT Strategy Support the Planning/Budgeting process in UA and UI IT Ensure latest estimates are developed and reported including business ownership and commitment Governance & Internal Controls Assist the organization to operate efficiently and effectively within the financial controls environment Advice the business on the application of Upstream accounting policies and ensure an adequate control environment is maintained Other activities Ensure that organizational changes are correctly reflected in UA IT account ledgers Manage working capital (outstandings, project balance); standard debtors collection & billing activity via Shell Business Service Centers Being a member of the Upstream IT Finance Team, regular participation in Upstream IT Finance projects as well as responsibility for other Upstream IT areas is anticipated
