Upstream political blame When one look at the money allocated to Local Government from the Federal coffer to work for the people of the grass root, I will be dismayed to discovered that most of the works being carried out or done are by the state governments while the LG have nothing to show except the payment of ghost-workered salary. When you confront a LG executive (Chairman or Councillor), you will be told that the LGs money is in the hands of the state executives under the auspices of L G Joint account, the third tier of government have been converted to an adendum of the state governments while the citizenry in the local governments are in need of health care facilities, pest control, drainage and provision of basic amenities. But what are the state Executives doing with the funds that was originally ear-marked for LG area ? Are they using the LG funds to develop the state capital ? Are they using the joint account as a fund for political donors and their never ending global trotting ? Where in fact is the money going ? The people in the rural area whose hope is the third tier of government have been abandoned with nothing for them as dividends of democracy except a gift of soap, a packet of indomie and a handful of salt on the eve of election.
